                                            PARKER DAM
                                      WHIPPLE, ARIZONA

Parker Dam spans the Colorado River between Arizona and California 17 miles northeast of the town for whichitnamed.  Built between 1934 and 1938 by the Bureau of Reclamation, Parker Dam is one part of a system of storageand diversion structures built by the Reclamation to control and regulate the once unruly Colorado River.

Colorado River Aqueduct, a man-made river, was constructed by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern Californa (MWD) and delivers water daily to metropolitan areas in Southern California.

                                    PUBLIC HELP IS REQUESTED

The public's help is requested in collecting the names of Workers, Government Officials, Companies and Businessmen who were involved in the construction of Parker Dam and the government town of Whipple, Arizona.  Family members who lived in Whipple, a Bureau of Reclamation town, which was built expressly for the construction of Parker Dam, are also requested as pioneers of the government town.

The collection and donation of all memorabilia, photographs, company records, letters or documents to add to State
museum archives for this project will help in the substantiation of the names to be detailed above; as well as, giving them their permanent place in the history of this construction.

If you (or a family member) were involved in the construction of Parker Dam or Whipple, Arizona; or have items you
wish to donate in their name, please contact:
